Sinking memories

Hi everyone!
I made this image for past week but, with all the Sandy hurricane thing, I thought it would be kind of a bad joke if I uploaded it… So I decided to wait until this week. I hope all the people and their families who suffered from Sandy are doing well and recovering fast enough to get back to normal life.

So, this image is totally a self-portrait. I have this strange fear for water, which is sort of ironic since I’m fishes. I don’t like being in pools or in the sea. I can stand it if I don’t get my head under the water and if anyone doesn’t spatter me with it, but that’s it. When I was a little girl I almost drowned in a pool, so I guess that’s why I’m not really a friend of water... My memories of that moment aren’t really clear in my mind, but I remember being so uncomfortable, trying to swim to the surface. I’m not really good at swimming (funny fact: I live on an island), but finally I did it my own and could get out of the pool.

¡Hola a todos!
Hice esta imagen para la semana pasada, pero con todo lo del huracán Sandy pensé que quedaría como una broma pesada si la subía… Así que decidí esperar a esta semana. Espero que todas las personas y sus familiares que sufrieron por Sandy estén bien y recuperándose lo más rápido posible para volver a la vida diaria.

Pues bueno, esta imagen es completamente un autorretrato. Tengo un extraño miedo al agua, lo cual resulta irónico ya que soy piscis. No me gusta estar en piscinas o en el mar. Lo soporto si no tengo la cabeza bajo el agua y si no me salpican con ella, pero eso es todo. Cuando era pequeña casi me ahogo en una piscina, así que supongo que ésa es la razón por la que no soy muy amiga del agua… Mis recuerdos de ese instante no están muy claros en mi memoria, pero sí me acuerdo de la incomodidad y de intentar nadar a la superficie. No soy muy buena nadando (hecho gracioso: vivo en una isla), pero al final conseguí salir de la piscina por mí misma.
